Hello to all of my amazing gentlemen!!
Just Kidding! But aren't they adorable??? Last but no least...
As promised, I am making this post for you guys. ;) Based on our feedback, the topic for today was requested by our male readers! Thank you guys for being so faithful to our blog and showing your interest for more fashion tips.
Someone mentioned that I tend to use pictures of "model" males and females, and it felt unrealistic. So...I had a few guys who were willing to be our "real" life models. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ethnic backgrounds. ;) Special shout out to each of them.
Ok...BOW TIES VS. TIES. What's the difference??????? When should you wear one???? How do you wear either one of them???? No worries gentlemen! We're here to help. ;)
Beside the obvious reason of difference in style, the Bow Tie has a long reputation of being classy, authoritative, and extremely formal. They have also been very popular for the southern preppy style. For example, bow ties are highly recommended for special events such as the Red Carpet, Weddings, Formals, PROM, etc. You get the picture. lol. Bow ties are the TOP of a gentleman's style.
However, in the more recent years, bow ties have started to become very trendy in several parts of the world even on runways. Some guys wear them in their everyday style.
Sadly, they have fallen out of style on the red carpet. The repeated use of the bow tie in daily fashion has pushed celebrities to move away from the bow tie at special events, even though it would have looked 110% better with a bow tie, remember they are supposed to be at the TOP of their game at these events.
On the other hand, ties have been used for just about EVERYTHING... work, church, interviews, dates, etc. In my opinion, a man's tie is like a woman's bag...an essential accessory. A tie is stylish, sleek, and classy, but not as formal as the bow tie. Ties can be thrown on to almost everything (besides t-shirt and polos) to dress it up or make it just a little more stylish.
Must I elaborate on the tie anymore? lol. Now on to the final question. Which one do I wear?
Bow or Tie?
Let's take a look at these side-by-side pictures of our REAL LIFE models to make a final decision....
- Model #1 Cristian Guity
As you see Mr. Guity is wearing jackets with both the bow and tie. If you look closely...VERY CLOSE...just kidding! LOL ;)...you will see that the bow tie really calls attention to his face structure, whereas the tie really emphasizes the chest area. LADIES, calm down he's TAKEN by a very special lady. hehehehe. Btw, I do love the navy shirt & white blazer. My vote...the tie.
- Model #2 My lovely brother Mario Garcia
Ok, let's take a look at this southern handsome old man. LOL. jk. The tie falls PERFECTLY right above the belt calling attention to his broad chest/shoulders and giving him a longer leaner abdomen. (THIS IS HOW YOUR TIE SHOULD FALL, right above the belt line!) The bow tie emphasizes the shoulder and neck area. I don't know if you can tell by the close up of the second picture, but if you look at the size of his head...the tie makes his head looks more proportional than the bow tie picture. My brother has a very "football player" body shape, so we wouldn't want to make his shoulders appear any bigger. My vote... the tie, but I must say the bow tie does look good as well especially since it's a close up. . Ladies, he's also TAKEN! LOL! ;)
- Model #3 Leander Michaels
Just Kidding! But aren't they adorable??? Last but no least...
The classic black suit! Now, this is probably the hardest decision to make...but he can actually rock both looks. One is more formal than the other. For example, the bow tie would be perfect for a ball, red carpet, wedding, etc... whereas the M.I.B. (Men In Black) look is more chic for a more every night look. My vote *drum roll*...BOTH!!! The classic black suit/tux really makes both ties great choices. Just keep in mind the type of event you will attend with these looks. The classic black suit is always very strong and sleek. BTW, he's TAKEN as well. ;) sorry ladies. lol
In my honest opinion, I think ties will always be classier and more chic for normal men's wear, and bow ties are meant for special occasions. HOWEVER, I do realize they have become a "trend" for casual looks. I simply like to believe some classic fashion pieces should be kept to its' high value.
At any rate, you are more than free to judge my models for yourself, and make your own decisions! :)
Rate the models. Learn your body shape. Try a few pieces. Learn to tie both ties (don't buy an already made bow tie). Work your style!
Well, I hope you gentlemen liked this post. I really enjoyed working on this piece. Thank you to all of our wonderful models!!! You guys did a great job. Happy Shopping.
Have a blessed day.
Love,
D
